Short answer
Soar Travel is free and stays free, so the reason to look elsewhere is what it does not do: build a day-by-day plan, work offline, or tell you whether your passport gets you in and for how long. On Apple devices NomadPoint covers all three free. For planning with friends on Android or the web, Wanderlog. For flights alone, Flighty.
Why people look for a Soar alternative
- It files bookings and answers questions; it does not build an itinerary you plan day by day.
- Visa questions go to an AI rather than a tracked rule for your passport and your dates.
- iPhone only, iOS 26 and up, and built around connecting a Gmail account.
1. The same trip, plus the rules it has to obey
NomadPoint
Free: booking emails and calendar import, flight alerts and the Live Activity, a day-by-day plan with stays and activities, offline access, and visa rules, Schengen 90/180 counting and passport validity for the passport you hold. No hotel booking, and far newer than most here.
iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch · Free, Pro $29.99/year · 3 US App Store ratings
2. Planning with other people, on any device
Wanderlog
Places on a map, route order, live shared editing, free on Android and the web. Offline access needs Pro.
iPhone, Android, web · Free, Pro from $39.99/year · 34,310 US App Store ratings · vs NomadPoint
3. Bookings organised without an AI in the middle
TripIt
Seventeen years of email parsing, cross-platform, free. Live alerts need TripIt Pro.
iPhone, Android, web · Free, Pro $49/year · 307,859 US App Store ratings · vs NomadPoint
4. Flights, tracked better than anywhere
Flighty
Delay prediction and inbound aircraft ahead of the airline. Tracking is free; the alerts are Pro.
iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch · Free, Pro $59.99/year for alerts · 152,377 US App Store ratings · vs NomadPoint
Disclosure: we make NomadPoint. Ratings are Apple's public US App Store counts (14 August 2026); prices from each app's own pricing page (checked 2026-09-19).
Questions
Is Soar free?
Yes. Soar Travel is free on the App Store with no subscription and no in-app purchases (checked September 2026). It earns its money when you book a hotel through it. It needs iOS 26 and runs on iPhone only.
What is the best Soar alternative that tracks visas?
NomadPoint. It keeps entry rules for the passport you hold, counts Schengen 90/180 days across the whole area rather than per country, and warns you when a passport is too close to expiry for a destination. All free, on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch.
Does Soar work on Android?
No. Soar Travel is an iPhone app and needs iOS 26; its own site says Android is not available yet. Wanderlog and TripIt both run on Android and the web. NomadPoint does not: it is iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch.
Plan your next trip.
Free on iPhone, iPad and Mac. Email import, flight alerts and Schengen day counting are included without Pro.
